PostHeaderIcon Just Swinging Away

While I am sitting here in front of our personal computer in the master bedroom, our neighbor’s white hammock distracts me. I can see it from the window beside the computer desk and I can’t help but look at it while it is swaying because of being blown by the wind. It is not connected to one of those hammock stands. Our neighbor just tied it on two trees in his front yard.

And when the tree sways, the hammock sways as well. It makes me feel like I want to sit in there and relax. Well, it is a little chilly outside today because of the rain yesterday so I don’t think it would be such a good idea to try it now. Maybe one day.

I didn’t get my son one of those Gregory Backpacks that he could use in school, but he certainly loves what I got for him. It’s a blue backpack with the ‘Atlanta Braves’ logo on it. It took me a while to find the bag and I was glad when I finally found it on eBay.

My son is a fanatic of the Atlanta Braves’ now. He was greatly influenced by my husband who is a fan of the team too and who loves baseball very much. He was all smiles when he saw the backpack because he didn’t have any inkling that it was what I was going to get him. Good job for me!

My 8-year-old son is a dreamer like me. I’ve talked to him about dreaming of having a bigger house than what we have now with a pool complete with a swimming pool safety fence, a pond, a playground and a basketball court. I am surrounded with boys, thus, I know they would appreciate a court.

After I’ve talked to him about that, it became his dream too. The only difference is, his house should be made of Lego pieces. That really amused me. He’s so into Lego and that would totally be interesting.

So said my son the other day, and If there’s one thing that I consider to be part of Christmas here in the land of Uncle Sam that I didn’t see in my home country of the Philippines is seeing vehicles carrying live Christmas trees on top of their cars. That is probably why many cars here have a whispbar roof rack attached to the roof of their cars.

I’d only seen roof racks in the movies before, but now I see them live as well as those live Christmas trees. I really find it fascinating. But with or without them, Christmas would still be my favorite time of the year.

My 8-year-old son can either be super lazy or super industrious. The latter was what he was on the weekend. He cleaned his bedroom after playing. He wiped the shelves, arranged his things including books and vacuumed the carpet. But he missed one thing – picking up the glass beads scattered underneath his bed. Those beads were our neighbor Hannah’s beads that she brought with her when they played last week. He was already playing with the neighbors when I saw the beads so I cleaned them up myself. No biggie; he did the hard work.

You asked me last night what I wanted for Christmas, but I was too shy to tell you what I want so I said, “Surprise Me!”, instead. But actually I wanted to tell yo to get me an ipod touch plus an ipod docking station where I can put it.

I know I will be too shy to tell it to your face so here I am writing about it. I am just hoping you will read this before Christmas. If not, then I guess I will have to work up the nerve to tell it to your face by then. (“,)

I may be bragging, but when it comes to my son, no one can stop me. LOL. I bought him some of those replica sunglasses last weekend and without batting an eyelash, I can say that he really looks good in them.

My son is a handsome young man and I am not the only one who had said that. So it’s not really just because I am his mother that I say he is handsome, huh? And mind you, he is not only handsome, but smart too. Way to go, son!

The husband arrived from work a little later than he usually does today and that is because he went to his favorite car accessory store to get the custom rubber floor mats that he ordered for the family car.

He was so excited about it that when he got inside the house, he just left his things at the breakfast counter then went back to the car to put the mats in. After that, he showed them to me and bragged about it.

Well, it is definitely something to brag about because they certainly are nice. Good job, Hon!

The husband was the one who introduced baseball to the little one. He is so into it and now he’s gotten the little one to like it too. They are both watching the game now actually. They are both hooked and cheer to the top of their lungs whenever their fave team, the Atlanta Braves, score.

As of late the little one has been mumbling about being a baseball player in the future. His famous line is, “I’ll be a baseball pitcher and I will bring home trophies!” He’s only 8 years old and hearing that from him is really amusing. I don’t have any problem with that. If that’s the path he wants to take, we’ll support him all the way.

I was cleaning my husband’s dresser yesterday when I saw two custom lapel pins that he got and used when he was still working as the manager of a popular golf course club here in the city. That was a long time ago though and the establishment has since close.

He was keeping them as remembrance and that’s nice because he has a lot of nice stories from that company. Unfortunately, the company closed after a few years causing him to leave and seek other employment. But he got a good offer from another company where he is still gainfully employed.

I put the pins back after cleaning the dresser and I told him to put them up where they’d be safe and never to get rid of them.
