PostHeaderIcon He’s a Baby No More

With my son’s birthday coming so close, I am getting myself busy looking for the party venue. I already know what to get him as gifts and it’s not one of those JustStrollers.com baby strollers because he’s not a baby anymore. He will be turning nine. Oh boy! Before I know it, I will have a teen already.

And I already know where to get his outfit. It’s just the venue that is mind-boggling to me. There are a lot to choose from, but the prices are just too much. We have a budget to stick to so it’s kind of difficult. Could it have been that his birthday fell in the summertime, it would be easy to just do it at the park. But it’s in March; early spring, yes, but still cool, so outside is not an option.

I was browsing my computer folders today when I saw this photo, and it took me back in time when it happened. I actually blogged about it in my other blog before.

Anyway, my son did it. He was only six years old that time and no one told him to do that. I was busy doing my chores in the living room that day when I wondered how come he was so quiet in the bedroom. And when I came in, this is what I saw. I was really amazed! Who wouldn’t? Those were all his works except for the car drawing which my dad did for him. Those yellow stars were the ones that he received from school for doing great in their activities.

Kids’ imagination never fail to amaze me.

Music is something I love and my son does too. He got it from me, I’m sure. He’s only 8 years old, but he is already showing his love for music this early. He loves to sing, and listen to and watch music videos on YouTube, singing along with them. He also loves to play with my husband’s guitar though he doesn’t know how. He’s just pretending he knows what he’s doing by strumming on the strings.

And after seeing him do that, we thought it would be great to enroll him in music classes because aside from the guitar, he’s also showed an interest in drums after seeing a display at the mall. My husband and I had already talked about getting him into music classes and perhaps getting him a guitar, maybe a laney lionheart guitar which he could call his own. That would really be awesome!

The news about Demi Moore getting into substance abuse is really shocking. I thought all the while that although she was affected by her recent divorce, she was strong enough to face it since that wasn’t her first.

The first time I saw her looking so thin was really surprising. She used to be one of my favorite actresses in Hollywood because aside from the fact that she is beautiful, she is really an excellent actress. I like her movie ‘Ghost’ the best among all.

I think she will be seeking the help of addiction treatment centers. I am not sure, but whatever she chooses, I hope she will get back to her normal life soon.

Making it to the A/B Honor Roll in the First Grading Period already made us so proud. But we were so delighted when we got the great news. Our son, Yogi made it to the All A’s Honor Roll in the Second Grading Period. It gets no better than that.  His teacher who was so kind and so supportive of him was so happy about it too. She actually put “Yay” on the comment section of his report card. That was so sweet of her.

Great job, Yogi! Keep it up!

PostHeaderIcon I’m Dreaming of a White New Year

Winter season officially started on the 22nd and the weather has gotten really cold. I think this time of the year is when people start shopping for raypak heaters and other things that will keep them warm. It’s the best thing to do after all.

The temperature is in the 30’s today and last night, there was actually a little hail which made the surroundings a little icy this morning when my husband left for work. But even though I am not really a fan of cold weather, I still am hoping for snow. We haven’t had any yet since winter started. Maybe soon, I hope.

My 8-year-old son is a dreamer like me. I’ve talked to him about dreaming of having a bigger house than what we have now with a pool complete with a swimming pool safety fence, a pond, a playground and a basketball court. I am surrounded with boys, thus, I know they would appreciate a court.

After I’ve talked to him about that, it became his dream too. The only difference is, his house should be made of Lego pieces. That really amused me. He’s so into Lego and that would totally be interesting.

PostHeaderIcon Math Night Game

It was some time in October or November when my son had their Math Night in school. Parents were invited to join and I was so glad we did. That was our first time to play games that had to do with Math and it was really fun. I never thought there were such games. They really are great games because it will teach the kids more about Math and develop their skills in it.

After the event was over, the teacher sent us copies of the games that we played for us to play at home. And the picture below is one of them. I played it with my son a couple of weeks ago here at home and we really had fun. The game is called “Close to 100″ wherein you are given six one-digit number cards. You will then choose four cards among the six that will make a total of 100 or close to 100. If you didn’t make a 100, then the difference would be your score. The one who has the smallest score, wins. You should try it.

PostHeaderIcon I Love Those Road Trips

The year is coming to an end and all I can say, we’ve been totally blessed this year. The three of us have bonded a lot with the trips we’ve made and I couldn’t be any happier. The husband and I have talked that hopefully, we get to go somewhere every year. It shouldn’t have to be grand for as long as we get to see a new place and enjoy it. Not to mention, the three of us are together.

We actually had plans this year that we weren’t able to do. Hopefully we get to make it next year and I do hope too that I’ll get to avail of great deals on vacation rental homes. Wish me luck!

PostHeaderIcon Look Mom! That Car Has a Tree Growing Out of the Top!

So said my son the other day, and If there’s one thing that I consider to be part of Christmas here in the land of Uncle Sam that I didn’t see in my home country of the Philippines is seeing vehicles carrying live Christmas trees on top of their cars. That is probably why many cars here have a whispbar roof rack attached to the roof of their cars.

I’d only seen roof racks in the movies before, but now I see them live as well as those live Christmas trees. I really find it fascinating. But with or without them, Christmas would still be my favorite time of the year.
